Criminal record certificate / Police clearance certificate – Certificato penale del Casellario Giudiziale

We can obtain your Police Clearance Certificate (Certificato del Casellario Giudiziale) within 24 hours from the request. We will send you a scanned copy of the certificate as soon as we collect it. We can also send the original to your address by express courier, which you will receive within 24/48 hours. If you send us an email, please note that we usually respond within 1 hour. Therefore, if you do not see our answer, please check your spam folder or send us a message on whatsapp).
In some cases you may be required to prove that you have not been convicted of any criminal offense while you were living in Italy. For example, many employers request that their soon-to-be employees prove that they have not been convicted of any crime during their stay on the Italian soil.
How can you prove that you have no criminal record in Italy?
There is a specific certificate called certificato (penale) del casellario giudiziale (commonly known in English as the Criminal Record Certificate (CRC) or Police Clearance Certificate (PCC), Police Certificate or Background Check) that you can request from the competent Italian authority (Procura della Repubblica), which can prove that while you were staying in Italy you were not convicted of any crime.
NB.Please note that there has been a significant change at a national level and the kinds of certificates have been reduced into one certificate only which is now called the Certificato del Casellario Giudiziale. Therefore, the Certificato Generale and the Certificato Penale do not exist anymore, and it is only possible to request the Certificato del Casellario Giudiziale, which is the one you need if you want to prove that you have not been convicted of any crime in Italy. To know more about this new certificate, please read our new guide “Italian Police Clearance Certificate.” What follows here below is still correct and valid.
In fact, the criminal record certificate (or Police Clearance Certificate) contains the list of criminal convictions that have become final, which means that they can no longer be appealed to, for crimes that an Italian or foreign citizen has committed in the Italian territory.
Here is an example of a (new) criminal record certificate (or Police Clearance Certificate)
When you read “NULLA” (=”nothing”), it means that the person in question has not been convicted of any crime. If, on the contrary, there are convictions, they will be listed, as said above. n1

Who can request the criminal record certificate?
This certificate is issued by the Procura della Repubblica and may be requested by the interested person directly, by a person delegated by the interested person, or by the Public Administration, the employer, the Judicial Authority, or lawyers.
You can request this certificate even if you are not Italian, were born abroad and if you formally reside abroad.
How can you obtain the criminal record certificate?

Costs
Fees to be paid at the Procura della Repubblica for the certificate amount to € 19.87 (of which € 16 for stamps and € 3.87 for certificate fees). In case of an urgent request, an additional stamp of € 3.87 is required.
Use of the certificate abroad
Please note that the certificate is issued in Italian. Therefore, if you need to use the certificate abroad, you will need to add the Apostille (if the country of destination of the document is part of the Hague Convention), or the legalization, if you need them (except for Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, Ireland, Latvia where is not needed). and/or a sworn translation.
Please note that we can collect your certificate within 24 hours from your request, and then request the Apostille or the Consulate Legalization for your certificate, if you need them, so it will be considered legally valid in foreign countries. We can also make a sworn translation into any language of your certificate.
n1 There are some exemptions. For example, convictions for fines defined administratively or with an oblation (Presidential Decree 313/2002 – Consolidated Law on Criminal Records), the sentences issued by the Justice of the Peace, and some other cases will not appear in the list. Moreover, in some cases, the judge may grant the benefit of the “non mention”, consisting in the non-inclusion of the sentence in the criminal record, only if requested by private individuals and not for electoral reasons. These convictions will therefore not be indicated in the criminal record certificate.

I have dealt with David directly (online) in order to attain my own certificate and found him to have been trustworthy and efficient in his work. I was very skeptical at first about giving details online and paying money to someone I had not met! However, these fears turned out to be unfounded. After I bit the bullet and sent David my documents and payment, he quickly set about retrieving my documents and sent them to me immediately. I had received my digital copy of the certificate within 3 days of agreeing to allow him to acquire them on my behalf. For now, i was told by my solicitor in Australia that apostille might not be required. But, If the immigration wants it, i will get it done by David only.

I was an Erasmus student in Italy in 2016 for over 6 months, so now in 2019 for my scholarship and visa application I was asked to submit the Criminal Record Certificate (Certificato Penale). As my daughter had worked in Italy for a year, she urgently needed a Certificato penale del Giudizale for a job offer in the UK. Trying to obtain this proved frustrating and difficult. I’m in the process of applying for a Visa for Canada and in order to do that I needed the police certificates from all the countries I lived in. I’m Romanian, currently living in The Netherlands and in 2012-2013 I studied as an Erasmus Student in Camerino. I cannot recommend David highly enough. I urgently needed Italian police certificates for my application for residency in Canada. These were asked for out of the blue, as additional information, so I needed to provide them in a short timeframe.
